Indian Institute of Technology(IITs) have lowered the cut-off rates for the reserved category but also restarted the preparatory courses which are for 1 year.
However, all the campuses will not run the courses. Some IITs have outsourced the preparatory course to their counterparts in other tech schools.
IIT-Roorkee will also conduct classes for IIT-Delhi and IIT-Mandi. IIT-Madras is conducting ‘prep classes’ for its candidates and those of IIT-Bombay, IIT-Hyderabad and IIT-Gandhinagar.
IIT-Kharagpur is also training students of IIT-Patna and IIT-Bhubaneshwar.
The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) will not change the admission rules for the entrance exam for next year.
Joint Admissions Board (JAB) decided that there will be no changes in the admission procedure.
HRD minister MM Pallam Raju had recommended the change in admission criteria after 79 aspirants were denied admission to the IITs despite getting initial offer as they did not meet the percentile cut-off marks of their respective schools boards.
