While it is no secret that Samsung will launch the Galaxy Gear smartwatch next week in a pre-IFA press conference, with the company confirming it, very little was actually known about the device. However, prolific leaker @evleaks is here to save the day again by posting screenshots of the Gear smartwatch app that would enable users to connect the device to their smartphones.
The screenshots confirm that the Galaxy Gear will indeed have NFC connectivity that can be used to pair it with compatible Android smartphones. Users will also be able to change clock faces and it will support some apps that will be featured on Samsung’s own app store. The most interesting feature, however, is find my watch, which indicates that the Galaxy Gear could either have GPS or some sort of data connectivity for the feature to work. This could also mean that the smarwatch could also work as a standalone smart device when it is not paired with a smartphone.
Earlier leaks have suggested the Galaxy Gear to have a 2.5-inch display and will come with a camera embedded in the strap and tiny speakers on the clasp. It is expected to be available in September itself in multiple colors.
