Notion Ink, known for its Adam range of Android tablets, has developed a new safety-related smartphone app for the Android platform. The app, called imShakti, is aimed at helping one call out for help when stuck in a difficult situation.
What this app essentially does is, send a short emergency SMS to predetermined emergency contacts when one presses the Power or Lock/Unlock button 5 times in two seconds. The SMS will also have the sender’s location information, which can be tracked using Google Maps. In case the network is bad and the phone cannot track the user’s location, the app will send the SMS without the coordinates while continuing to look for the location. As soon as it zeroes in on the location, the app will send another SMS with the location details. Other value-added features on the app lets users shut off most of the connectivity services to save battery. You can head over to the Play Store to download imShakti.
The spate of horrific events across the countries has pushed companies to come up with apps to help a person during the moment of distress. Other apps similar to imShakti include Fightback, Circle of 6, bSafe, Scream Alarm! and Sentinel among others.
