Microsoft, it seems could be readying two new Surface tablets, according to advertising network AdDuplex. What’s more interesting though is the fact that the Redmond-based company could be dropping ‘RT’ from the Surface 2’s name, The Verge reports.
The advertising network, which continuously monitors the devices that access its ads, has noticed two new Microsoft tablets called ‘Microsoft Corporation Surface 2’ and ‘Microsoft Corporation Surface with Windows 8.1 Pro’. According to the report, the first device could be a new tablet running on Windows RT, but unlike its predecessor will not have the RT nomenclature. The second device could just be the company testing the latest version of Windows on an existing Surface Pro tablet.
In addition to the above mentioned tablets, AdDuplex also mentions Nokia tablets it has been tracking for the past year, which are codenamed RX-107, -108, -113, -114, -115, and -116. It is difficult to say if it is a series of tablets or just one tablet in different stages of development. If we were to hazard a guess, it is most likely the 10.1-inch Windows RT tablet Nokia is said to be developing. This tablet codenamed Sirius will be designed around the Lumia smartphones and will be launched at an event in New York, which is currently scheduled for September 26.
