Earlier this year at the MWC, Nokia announced one of its most affordable phones called the 105 and the Finnish company has today followed it up by announcing the 108. The 108 is equally light on the pocket, priced at $29 (Rs 1,800 approximately) and is the first ultra-affordable Nokia phone to offer a camera.
The Nokia 108 offers a lot of bang for its buck when you consider the specifications and the features it offers. The phone sports a 1.8-inch QVGA (160×128 pixels) LCD display and as mentioned above, includes a VGA camera with 2x zoom that can click photos and videos. Nokia has also added Slam technology to easily share pictures with others.
Other features included are dual-SIM card slots (also available in single-SIM variant), 4MB of RAM, expandable memory using a microSD card, Bluetooth, FM Radio, music player and a 950mAh battery, which Nokia claims is good enough for up to 13.8 hours talk time and 31 days on standby mode.
“There remains a huge segment of the global population that has yet to own a camera phone,” ” said Nokia’s Timo Toikkanen. “For the next billion people and beyond, we aim to bring new mobile experiences to ever-lower price points, and the Nokia 108 and Nokia 108 Dual SIM are great examples of this commitment.”
Both the variants of the Nokia 108 will be available in red, white and black color variants and will start shipping in later this year. There’s currently no word on when this phone will be launched in India.
