Apple’s media event for the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C is only a few hours away, but as is the case, the leaks never cease. This time around, the folks at Nowhereelse.fr (via 9to5Mac) are reporting that the rumored fingerprint sensor in the iPhone 5S will be branded Touch ID. The information comes via a picture of a leaked user guide.
The guide refers to the home button as the ‘home button/ touch ID sensor’. Previously, it was reported that the iPhone 5S will integrate a finger print scanner in the home button and will have a metal ring around it.
Additionally, the report claims that the normal passcode and biometric sensor login will not be usable in tandem. So, the user will need to opt for either one of the methods. There will be a toggle switch in the settings menu that will allow the user to turn of the fingerprint scanner.
Reportedly, the user will need to press and hold the home button for a few seconds for the authentication process. The leak seems credible because the user guide is similar to the leaked user guide of the iPhone 5C, which also is expected to be launched later today.
