Honda Brio LMPV to be called Mobilio

Honda Brio LMPV to be called Mobilio

But before you think that Honda's going to rest its laurels, think again! The Japanese manufacturer is ready to bring out a new MPV, speculated to be called Mobilio. According to the leaked images of the MPV's brochure, it's clear that it will be available in a total of three variants, namely S, E and E-CVT. Powering it will be the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol unit when it goes on sale in Indonesia but given our love for diesels, the Indian version will get the 1.5-litre i-DTEC (diesel) engine too. As for the transmission, it's likely to use a 5-speed manual gearbox while the top-spec E-CVT, as the name suggests, will get a CVT gearbox.

In the looks department, the Mobilio looks very much like the Amaze from the front. The leaked picture, although of poor quality, shows the new design grille, unlike the chrome version of the Brio. The bumper looks similar to that of the hatchback while the rear looks way more mature. The glasshouse looks quite big in the pictures, which is a great thing!

The feature list is good enough to give Ertiga, Evalia and Enjoy a strong competition. In the Indonesian-spec, the 'S' variant gets Beige interiors, 2-speaker audio system and dual SRS airbags. The other two variants, E and E-CVT are feature laden.

The inclusion of a third row of seats, a good ground clearance of 185mm and all the goodness that every Honda product comes with makes the Mobilio a very interesting product. It will be unveiled in Indonesia at the Indonesia International Motor Show IIMS-2013 and will make its appearance in India at the 2014 Auto Expo.
