After 30 days of experimenting with different logos, Yahoo today finally unveiled its new logo that uses a thinner typeface sans serif while retaining the legendary exclamation mark, which has been slanted. The exclamation mark will be animated for three seconds whenever someone first comes to a Yahoo site. This marks the symbolical transition of Yahoo under Marissa Mayer and the first major change to the Yahoo logo in 18 years. “We wanted a logo that stayed true to our roots (whimsical, purple, with an exclamation point) yet embraced the evolution of our products,” Kathy Savitt, chief marketing officer, Yahoo said in a statement. A video explaining the new logo follows.
