Acer Liquid S2 becomes first smartphone with 4K video recording


Acer has announced the S2 phablet with a 6-inch IPS display and 4K video recording capability. Though Acer has announced the Liquid S2 today, it will be revealing the phablet’s price and availability details at IFA in Berlin later this week.
Feature-wise, it comes with a 6-inch IPS full HD display offering 1920×1080 pixels resolution at 368 pixels per inch, and has curved Gorilla Glass 3. The phablet will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 quad-core chipset clocking at 2.2GHz with 2GB of internal memory. It has 16GB of internal memory which is expandable memory of up to 128GB using a microSD.
It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with BSI Sensors and LED ring flash, and can shoot full HD 1080p 60fps, and a 2-megapixel front camera. The rear camera will be able to capture full panorama photos by offering up to 27-megapixels in a single picture and is also capable of recording videos in 4K resolution, making it the first smartphone to do so. On the connectivity front, it will offer Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, AGPS, 3G or 4G, depending up on the country.
Other features include a 3,300mAh battery, Dolby digital speakers and a suite of sensors – light sensor, accelerometer, proximity sensor, digital compass and gyro. It will also sport Acer’s Float UI with Acer HD Channel, Acer Docs and Acer Remote Files, Acer Data Traffic Manager, Acer Float Caller, Acer Float Apps(maps/notes/camera/calculator), Acer Live Screen, Acer Print and more.
The Liquid S2 will be available in red and black colors at the end of October in several countries. To know about the pricing and availability, you will have to wait for the final unveiling of the product at Acer’s event at IFA.
