Sony has sent out official invites for a press event where it will most likely launch the Xperia Z1 in India on September 18 in New Delhi. We had previously exclusively reported that Sony would be launching the smartphone in India on September 18 and now this invite more or less confirms what we have been saying all along.
Notably, the Xperia Z1 is launching in India exactly two weeks after its global unveil at IFA in Berlin. The Xperia Z1 in Sony’s parlance represents the best of Sony, and we also agree with this notion considering it has a premium build, a super fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a 5-inch 1080p LCD display that uses Sony’s Triluminous technology.

Sony is making a big deal about its camera. It has a 20.7-megapixel camera that utilises technology from Sony’s imaging division. It incorporates a Sony G-lens, BIONZ image processing engine, and a massive 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS CMOS image sensor. Sony also touts 3x clear zoom which is basically jargon for lossless zoom.
The phone is also fully waterproof and has 16GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot and runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. In addition to the Xperia Z1, Sony will probably announce its camera lens attachments that will work with both Android smartphones and the iPhone.
